Sanjay Lavoipierre has been working in the field of spiritual health care since 2003.

At the age of 15 he began tapping into his innate healing abilities through the modality of Reiki. Then at 21 years of age, after completing a 4 year Environmental Engineering degree, undertook studies to become a yoga teacher in the traditional Hatha style.

Over the next few years, Sanjay’s personal practice and training took him to Thailand, India and Nepal. It was in Nepal in 2007 that he visited Kopan Monastery, where a connection to the Mahayana Buddhist tradition was reignited.

Since then, Sanjay has been studying and practicing under the guidance of the late Lama Zopa Rinpoche, completing an array of preliminary practices and retreats within the Gelug tradition. Sanjay’s secondary teachers include His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Khentrul Rinpoche.

Current Work

Sanjay has been teaching and working individually with students since 2003, and is currently the director of Phoenix Yoga Studios in Melbourne (established in 2015). His skill set includes yoga teaching and mentoring, pranayama (breath work), Ayurvedic nutrition and lifestyle, meditation and mindfulness practices, and counselling and spiritual coaching.
